Every One of Our Super Scoopers Bring a Unique Talent to Our Team

Each member of our fantastic team is part of a mission to show the world what we are capable of doing.  Our innovative approach for employment is what makes us unique.  During the day, our employees have many job duties to perform, such as:

All of our Super Scoopers are supported by our managing staff and with the help of our Volunteer Coaches, as much or as little as needed.  The Golden Scoop aims to foster an environment in which our employees feel empowered and successful while bringing joy and awareness to our community.

Ali

When Ali is not behind the counter, he enjoys playing basketball and chess.  Ali says, "I would like to see the world change by seeing places like Target, Walmart, and more stores hire employees with disabilities.  Following your dreams is what makes you successful!"

Trey

When Trey isn't at the café, he likes to fish, go boating, go camping, draw, spend time with his grandparents, and bowl.  He hopes to be able to find and work in a full-time job someday.  Trey says, "[Be] nice and treat [people] as they want to be treated.  Also, give them a chance to do things like everyone else."

Ian

Ian is a Marketing Associate and Super Scooper.  He enjoys writing, reading, playing video games, and being with family in his spare time.  He hopes to publish a differently-abled-themed children's novel sometime in the next year. Ian says, "I think that being differently-abled does not make us disadvantaged in the slightest, it just gives us unique opportunities to grow."

Thomas

Thomas enjoys working out at the gym, playing video games, reading, and roller skating.  In the future, he would like to live on his own and get married.  Thomas says, "[Be] nice to [people who are differently-abled]."

Sarah

Sarah enjoys baking, scooping and serving ice cream, and learning all the different roles in the café.  She hopes to continue working and having fun at The Golden Scoop!  When not working, she enjoys making people laugh, volunteering in the community, walking and swinging at the park, doing puzzles, being around animals, and going to her favorite restaurants with family.

Mitchell

Mitchell enjoys watching medical shows on TV and Youtube; his favorites right now are "Inside Pediatrics" and "Dr. G: Medical Examiner".  In the future, he eventually wants to move out to have his own place with his friends.  Mitchell says, "I hope people look past my wheelchair and see me for being the funny guy that I am!"

Jack

Jack's goal for the future is to become a manager at The Golden Scoop!  When not at work, he enjoys watching sports and playing video games.  Jack says, "I would like to see people change [as] they are, and give them the proper respect they deserve."

Hank

Hank has the goal of having his own apartment in the future.  When not at the café, he enjoys going to school, listening to music, and playing with his dog.  Hank says, "I hope that people will meet me at The Golden Scoop and be friends with people who have Down Syndrome! We're just the same and want to hang out!"

Jill

Jill would like to continue to learn about baking, and help create new items for the café's menu!  When Jill isn’t at work, she likes spending time with family and friends, as well as singing and dancing.  Jill says, “I think EVERYONE should be treated with kindness and respect!”

Jill "Bakery and Coffee Artist"

Jack

Jack also works at Chick-Fil-A. In his spare time, he likes to play basketball and also sing like a pop star to his Justin Bieber music. Someday, Jack would love to meet him in person and hang out.   Jack doesn't listen to music...he sings along to music. Jack says, "I have Down Syndrome but I love my life."

Austin

Austin would eventually like to be able to live on his own because it would be a fun experience.  He would also learn how to do many things on his own.  He likes to hang out with his friends at Farmer's House, spend time with his sister, ride his bike, and listen to oldies music.  Austin says, "I want to see more people talking to and getting out and about with people with special needs. Sometimes, people do things differently than other people, and that is interesting and makes me feel good inside."

Nick

Nick has a goal of having his own apartment in the future.  When not at the café, he enjoys watching the Kansas City Royals on TV and going to the stadium for games. Nick says, "I like to see all people treated nicely."

Charlie
Charlie enjoys going to camp, and he would like to do it more in the future.  He likes playing basketball, watching movies, and Sunday dinners with family!  Charlie says, "I'd like people to be nice."

Patrick

Patrick would like to make more music for his fans, meet Luke Bryan and Caroline Bryan, and bring them to The Golden Scoop!  He likes to drink coffee in the morning, ride his mountain bike, make music, and hang out with his family.  Patrick has a few albums published, including "Outlaw", available on his website.  Patrick says, "Follow your heart and dream big.  Don't feel down, and bring a smile on your face [to] make people happy."
